The Larscom Orion 7400 provides carriers with a flexible, low-cost solution for expanding the addressable market for Ethernet over SONET (EoS) and legacy SONET services. By adopting the new EoS standards, such as Generic Framing Procedure, the Orion 7400 enables carriers to maximize bandwidth efficiency and manage services with minimal operational expense.
Every T1 customer today is a potential Ethernet services customer. Clearly, with the Orion 7400 Larscom has demonstrated that it understands this trend as well as the evolution path to Ethernet services that will leverage carriers' current infrastructure investment and protect existing T1 revenue every step of the way. The Orion 7400 is a low risk solution for carriers because it is economical, offers plug-and-play interoperability and can be managed from the carrier's existing OSS. Since T1 services are used at over two-thirds of all enterprise sites, Larscom's solution, in my opinion, provides an affordable upgrade option for the majority of enterprise sites and significant profit potential for carriers

network interface, make the Orion 7402 the ideal solution for efficient delivery
of Ethernet services over SONET. As an Ethernet adjunct to a legacy SONET ADM or
as an extension of the SONET network, it provides cost-effective delivery of
Transparent LAN, Internet Access, and other popular Ethernet data services.
Industry-standard General Framing Procedure (GFP), Virtual Concatenation (VCAT)
and Link Capacity Adjustment System (LCAS) provide nearly 100% bandwidth
efficiency and allow service providers to easily scale bandwidth "on demand" in
1.5 Mbps increments.. This solution integrates easily into an existing SONET
network, where its compact (1 RU) size, low cost and low-power design minimize
operating expenses.

legacy TDM services in a single, compact (1 RU), low-power solution. This
platform is ideal for extending SONET to a single-customer site or to
multiple-customer locations, whether they are offices across a campus or a floor
of subscribers in a large building. With 1 Gb Ethernet port, 8 10/100 Ethernet
ports, 4 T1 ports, and an OC-3/OC-12/STS-1 network interface, the Orion 7403
enables the delivery of Ethernet services including Transparent LAN, Internet
Access, Ethernet Private Line, and Ethernet Virtual Private Line while
maintaining TDM applications. It integrates easily into any network, no matter
what variety of equipment is currently being used. It achieves nearly 100%
bandwidth efficiency for EoS, allows bandwidth to be easily scaled ?on demand?
in 1.5 Mbps increments, and provides cost-effective extension of SONET and TDM
infrastructures.

The Orion 7405 integrates field-pluggable components, such as DC power supplies, into an ideal solution for the cost-effective delivery of Ethernet services over SONET. Configure it with 16 10/100 Ethernet ports or 8 10/100 Ethernet ports and 1 Gb Ethernet port with long- or short-reach optical transceivers. Choose an EC-1 or OC-3/OC3c (long or intermediate reach) network interface. When using the OC-3 uplink interface, the 7405 also provides a DS3 port. Plug in up to 2 DC power supplies. Industry-standard General Framing Procedure (GFP), Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) and Link Capacity Adjustment System (LCAS) provide nearly 100% bandwidth efficiency. It integrates into an existing SONET network, allows bandwidth to be scaled in 1.5 Mbps increments, and delivers advanced Ethernet performance management, extended Ethernet frame support, and dynamic bandwidth management in a compact, low-power design.
