FEATURES

• SLIM-LAU Lobe Access Unit, is a two-port lobe expander for doubling the lobe capacity of the standard Token Ring Access Unit or Hub.

• Slim-LAU is especially suited for those applications where workstations are frequently relocated or added to the network. SLIM-LAU reduces the cost of lobe cabling and the need for adding access units, and offers a simple, cost-effective solution to expanding the ring topology.

• SLIM-LAU is available in three media types:
  • Shielded twisted pair (STP, 150 W) with IBM data connectors.
  • Unshielded twisted pair (UTP, 100 W) with RJ-45 connectors.
  • Screened UTP (100 W) with shielded RJ-45 connectors.

• To ensure proper operation, the TST pre-installation setup tool should be used. This small universal tool, which can also be used for installation of S-TAU, should be ordered separately (see Ordering).

• SLIM-LAU is small, lightweight, and easy to install. No external power supply is required. The unit can be mounted on the wall using brackets supplied with it.
