FEATURES
- MPS is a Port Sharing Device, which enables two
modems to share a computer port or DTE in a multidrop configuration,
allowing one modem at a time access to the main channel. The main channel
broadcasts information to subchannels in parallel. Subchannels contend to
transmit to the main channel by activating DCD or by data contention.
- When DCD is raised or data is activated, the
subchannel's transmit data and control signals are connected to the main
channel. When DCD drops or 16 idle bits are transmitted, control circuitry
is switched to monitor the other subchannel.
- MPS operates with synchronous or asynchronous
equipment and generates timing signals internally. Both modems connected
to the MPS should be set to operate with an external clock.
- MPS operates without AC power, deriving ultra-low
power from the standard RS-232/V.24 data and control signals.
- Synchronous and asynchronous
- Data rates up to 19.2 kbps
- DCD or data contention
- No AC power required
- Easy to install and configure
- Miniature, lightweight
