FEATURES
- MMS, a Modem Sharing Device, enables two DTEs to
share a master modem or a multiplexer in a multidrop environment.
- MMS operates with synchronous or asynchronous
equipment. It transfers the timing signals from the modem connected to the
main channel, to the subchannels. MMS is cascadable - several units can be
cascaded to increase the number of subchannels.
- The main channel broadcasts information to
subchannels in parallel. Subchannels contend to transmit to the main
channel by activating RTS. If RTS is raised, the subchannel's transmit
data and control signals are connected to the main channel. When RTS
drops, control circuitry is switched to monitor the other subchannel.
- No AC power required; the unit uses ultra-low power
derived from the RS-232/V.24 data and control signals.
