FEATURES
- M-EFC is a Miniature Ethernet Fiber Optic
Converter/Transceiver. It converts the IEEE 802.3 electrical signals into
optical signals for transmission over fiber optic cable, and is fully
compatible with IEEE 802.3 10BaseFL and FOIRL standards.
- Two switch-selectable operating modes are
available. Half duplex mode is used when connecting hub ports and other
half duplex devices. Full duplex mode is used when connecting full duplex
ports of switches, routers or workstations. In this mode, M-EFC takes
advantage of the unlimited range available on full duplex links (limited
only by media attenuation).
- M-EFC supports 62.5/125 micron multimode fibers and
9/125 micron single mode fibers.
- The unit plugs directly into the DB-15 AUI
interface or connects via an AUI cable and is powered via the AUI
interface (12V).
- The fiber optic cable used by M-EFC increases
range, improves network performance and achieves greater reliability. It
also reduces susceptibility to electrical noise and radio interference,
and increases communication security by providing immunity to tapping and
eavesdropping along exposed cable segments.
