POWER SUPPLIES
- A number of plug-in AC or DC power supplies are
available for CMN-16, to support the different power requirements of
the rack. In addition, a standalone power supply is available to
support one or two full racks including any type of card.
- CMN-16 is equipped with a single plug-in power
supply, and optionally, can accommodate an additional independent
plug-in power supply for redundancy (see Ordering). The power supplies
operate in hot standby, allowing one to be removed while the rack is
in use. All modem cards and power supplies are field replaceable. AC
and DC power supplies can be mixed in the same rack for redundancy.
- The power supplies for CMN-16 can be selected
according to the power requirements of the cards installed in the
rack. Power supplies are available for low, medium and high power
consumption.
- When selecting a power supply for the CMN-16
rack (see Ordering), calculate the power consumption of the individual
cards from the CMN-PS data sheet, Table 1 (Power Supply Modules for
the CMN-16 Card Cage). Tally the total power consumption for all the
cards in the rack. Select the power supply whose power rating is
greater than this value. (This applies to both the single and the
redundant power supply.)
- The number of cards accommodated depends on the
power supply. The power supply can be single-slot or dual-slot:
- CMN-16 with a single-slot power supply can
accommodate up to 16 modem cards.
- CMN-16 with two single-slot power supplies
can accommodate up to 15 modem cards.
- CMN-16 with two dual-slot power supplies can
accommodate up to 13 cards.
- Available power supplies:
PS-5: high power 16W per rack,
standalone unit with single-slot adapter card, AC power supply,
powered from 115 or 230 VAC.
