Overview

The 3028 Turbo provides high performance, easy installation and operation, and full compatibility with the DCX® multiplexer series. With the 3028 Turbo you can diagnose problems, check traffic statistics, review channel status and monitor events on the multiplexer and communications line from the front panel or a supervisory terminal. These capabilities are provided for both the local and remote devices. "Link Down" and "Data Loss" Status signals and a programmable Krypto Reset Pulse are provided on the supervisory interface.

With the 3028 Turbo, a user can consolidate synchronous (SDLC/HDLC) or asynchronous data from as many as eight terminals or CPU ports on a single synchronous modem or DSU link, thus reducing facilities costs. Error detection is provided through the use of a 16 bit Cyclical Redundancy Check (CRC). In the event of an error, the 3028 Turbo automatically retransmits the data to insure error free reception. Several flow control methods are user-selectable, providing optimal data transfer.

Product Highlights

Configuration and Management
Configuration can be performed using a local/remote asynchronous port, the local/remote dedicated supervisor port or the local/remote front panel. All available options on each channel can be set independently of other channels. The supervisor port is completely menu driven, eliminating the need to memorize commands, options and syntax. All available options are presented in plain English on an asynchronous ASCII terminal. Access to the supervisor function can be password protected. The supervisor port allows configuration, monitoring, problem diagnosis and statistics inquiry during multiplexer operation. The supervisor can sign on to either the local or remote end of the link without interfering with operation or data flow. Alternatively, access to the full array of supervisory functions may also be gained from any terminal attached to a standard channel. For immediate notification of potential problems, the monitor mode reports events occurring on both channel and link interfaces for both local and remote sites. An extensive complement of channel and link statistics aid in diagnosing and resolving problems, as well as to plan for future network requirements.
