Overview | |
The Model 3022 MicroStat™ and Model 3032 MicroStat II™ are miniature, two-port statistical multiplexers that let four asynchronous RS-232 devices communicate over a single modem link. Using specialized circuitry to monitor and prioritize data flow, these muxes effectively double the capacity of two analog (V.32, V.34, etc.) modems or two short range modems. They also allow four async RS-232 devices to be connected together over short distances (100ft/30m) using just a crossover cable. The Model 3022 & 3032 are configured using extended AT commands, and both the local and remote mux can be configured from local port 1 or 2. For hands-off convenience, the Model 3022 & 3032 can be programmed so that they go into Data Mode (ready for communication) when the connected modem raises CD. The Model 3022 & 3032 are also able to perform auto-baud sensing. Both hardware (RTS/CTS) and software (X-ON/X-OFF) flow control are supported. The Model 3022 & 3032 are so small they can plug directly into the DB-25 port of a modem. Sub-channel devices are connected using modular RJ-45 patch cables (see facing page). No AC power or batteries are needed, because the Model 3022 & 3032 draw all necessary operating power from the connected RS-232 devices. The Model 3022 supports selectable sub-channel and main channel data rates up to 38.4 kbps. The Model 3032 supports selectable sub-channel rates to 57.6 kbps, and main channel data rates up to 115.2 kbps. |
