Each SpectraComm 5001 incorporates a powerful intelligent CSU (channel service
unit), supporting D4 and ESF framing as well asAMI and B8ZS line coding. The SC
5001 LTU provides flexible, network-managed access to T1 and fractional T1
services. Each LTU supports a single T1 line for network interconnection and a
DSX-1 cascade port for “drop and insert” applications. Up to four
independent SpectraComm 5000 subsystems (multiple DSEs with their own LTU for T1
connection) can co-exist in a single shelf configuration. Each LTU distributes
bandwidth over the following interfaces: Network T1, drop and insert DSX-1, and
the
local backplane busses found in the SpectraComm shelf. The LTU divides the T1
payload for each logical interface and configures
channels in single or bundled fashion.
