Telenetics PE-LDM Limited
Distance Modem Module
Pony Express modem modules are
available for both dial and leased line applications, including all standards
from Bell 202T (1200bps) to V.32 bis (14.4kbps). Other modules include a fiber
optic line driver, a limited distance modem and an RS232/RS485 converter.
If the available power supply is limited (eg; a battery), the Pony
Express module can be configured to fall into a "sleep" mode, or to completely
power down, at times of inactivity.
These modules are also available to OEMs for integration into meters,
controllers, RTUs, etc.
will work with you to embed a Pony Express modem module
into your product. The modem can be installed in your existing rack chassis or
will connect to your existing serial data interface. Because all of the
Pony Express modules are fully interchangeable, a single design will
enable you to install any modem in your product.

A Pony Express module is a part of every Telenetics?
standalone and rack mount end user product ? See MIU, MIU/PowerPort and Myriad? products. These modules are also
available to OEMs for integration into meters,
controllers, RTUs, etc.
The various models provide a choice of DC power supply voltage (regulated
and unregulated) and data interface (RS232 or TTL), and are designed to operate over a wide range of temperatures (-40?C
to 85?C).
If the available power supply is limited (eg; a battery), the Pony Express
module can be configured to fall into a
?sleep? mode, or to completely power down, at times of inactivity.
Dial modems include an auto-reset feature, whereby the
modem configuration, if lost, can be restored by making
an incoming call. Most dial modems also include an autodial
feature, whereby the closure of, say, an alarm
contact can initiate an outgoing call to a host computer
or a pager.
will work with you to integrate a Pony Express
modem module into your product. If necessary, we will
design and manufacture a custom motherboard for the Pony
Express module, such that a modem can be installed in your
existing rack chassis or will connect to your existing
serial data interface. A single design will enable you to
install any modem in your product.
MIU STANDALONE
Modem
A Pony Express module is a part of our
popular standalone products, the MIU and
MIU/PowerPort. The MIU can even
accommodate 2 modules, providing such
combinations as a dial modem with fiber
optic interface or an internal RS232 to
RS485 convertor. Our standalone products
are surge protected, will operate in
extreme temperatures, and can be powered
from a wide range of AC and DC voltages.
CUSTOM
MOTHERBOARDS
will work with you to integrate a Pony
Express modem module into your product. If
necessary, we will design and manufacture a custom
motherboard for the Pony Express module, such that
a modem can be installed in your existing rack
chassis or will connect to your existing serial
data interface. A single design will enable you to
install any modem in your product.
MYRIAD
RACK
MOUNT
Modem Bank
The Myriad Rack Mount
Modem Bank is an
industrial grade 19?
3U chassis with slots
for 18 modem cards.

METER MODEMS
For automatic meter reading, will integrate a
modem into an electric, gas or water meter. Special features
can be provided, such as off-hook detect and automatic
call-in on power outage.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Each Pony Express module is a fully functioning modem, complete with a
10-pin header for power and serial data, and an
appropriate connector (eg; RJ11 or ST) for the analog or fiber optic data.
Serial Data: RS232 or TTL
Voltage: 5.5-9VDC unregulated or +5VDC?5%
regulated
Current: 50 to 150mA, depending on model
Low Power Operating Modes:
Dial modems can be configured to fall into a ?sleep?
mode, or to completely power down, at times of
inactivity. In sleep mode, the inactive modem will
draw less than 10mA and will instantly ?wake up? on
an incoming ring (RI) or transmit data (TxD) signal.
In the power down mode, the current drain drops to
20?A and the modem will automatically turn on to full
power within 400ms of receiving a DTR signal or an
incoming call.
Auto Reset Feature
If a dial modem loses its configuration for any reason,
the configuration is automatically restored by dialing
the modem and allowing it to ring several times.
Auto Dial Feature
Most dial modems have the ability to automatically dial
out to a stored phone number in the event of, say, an
alarm condition.
