Description
Magnum Personal Hubs® are an inexpensive solution for users
that need an easy-to-install 10Mb Ethernet network for a small office, lab,
conference room, trade show, sales demo, or home computer installation.
Personal Hubs are full-function repeaters that can operate as stand-alone hubs,
providing networking services for four to nine devices. Personal Hubs can also
expand local 10BASE-T Ethernet connectivity for existing personal workspaces and
offices. An up-link port can connect the Personal Hub to a central network using
an existing RJ-45 outlet, providing four to eight twisted-pair ports to support
additional PCs, workstations, and other networked devices.
Even networking novices can expand their network access from one to multiple
ports in only a few minutes, without modification to building wiring. They
simply plug their existing networked office device into one of the Personal
Hub’s front ports. The Personal Hub’s up-link port connects to the existing
network outlet.
The additional Personal Hub ports are available for expansion devices. When the
up-link port is off, the full 10 Mbps Ethernet capacity of the Personal Hub is
available for network activity within the personal workspace or local office. A
Personal Hub is easy to set up and monitor. The LED indicators show at a glance
whether the Hub and all attached segments are operating properly. Smaller than a
paperback book, a Personal Hub can be located on a desktop or Velcro®-mounted
vertically on an office wall or the side of a desk or cabinet.
The external power supply plugs into a nearby AC wall socket or power strip.
Personal Hubs are compatible with all networking software environments and
support full-length twisted-pair segment distances. The Magnum 10Mb Personal
Hubs and all Magnum products are designed and manufactured in the USA and are
backed by a three-year warranty.

SWITCHES:
UP-LINK: MDI-X (Media Dependent Interface - Crossover) thumb operated
slide switch, converts one RJ-45 port from a regular (=
position) user segment port to a crossover (X position) up-link port
for on/off connection to a central hub or another cascaded hub.
LED INDICATORS: PWR: Steady on when power applied
RX (Per Port): Blinks when there is activity on the port
LINK (Per Port): Steady on when there is proper connection on
both ends of the cable segment

Shielded 10BASE-T connectors accept either unshielded or
shielded wiring plugs for standard twisted-pair media wiring.
The regular RJ-45 ports support the standard for hubs-tousers
twisted-pair wiring: pin 1 = receive+, 2 = receive-, 3
= transmit+, 6 = transmit-, other pins not used. The
switched RJ-45 port is normally the same, but when switched
it supports the standard. for up-links using twisted pair
wiring, i.e., the transmit and the receive pairs are exchanged:
pin 1 = transmit+, 2 = transmit-, 3 = receive+, 6
= receive-, other pins not used.
