Fujitsu Adds InfinexTM IP PBX to its IP Offerings
Brings Converged Network Benefits to Small/Medium Sized Businesses

ANAHEIM, California, October 3, 2000 - Fujitsu Business Communication Systems, Inc., announced today that it has developed a server-based Internet Protocol (IP) PBX that brings the advantages of an IP-based network to business customers. This is the latest in a series of IP announcements Fujitsu has made in recent months.

Building on more than a decade of success with its F9600 PBX family, Fujitsu is launching the Infinex system with the same high quality of the existing F9600 models, as well as many of the currently available features.

The Infinex, which runs on a Windows NT server, is initially scalable up to 200 users so it can serve all the communications needs of smaller and medium-sized businesses, as well as enterprise organizations with distributed locations. The IP-based system allows users to take advantage of an IP network, converging voice traffic onto a single network supporting H.323 standard-based devices. Fujitsu has also developed its own IP phones and a Softphone which resides on a Windows-based PC.

"There is tremendous growth in enterprise organizations and multi-location businesses, and the Infinex is ideally suited to the needs of those businesses," said Mohammad Raza, vice president of product planning for Fujitsu Business Communication Systems. "It's in these areas where we see the greatest interest in migrating to IP-based solutions in a unified communications network."

Today's announcement was the latest by Fujitsu Business Communication Systems regarding its IP strategy. Two weeks ago, Fujitsu began shipping its latest software release and IP trunk card for the existing F9600 product line, which includes IP features such as Fujitsu Intelligent Private Networking (FIPN) over IP.

Fujitsu's F9600 family includes five scalable models which provide sophisticated telecommunications capabilities for businesses of all sizes - from small businesses with limited capacity requirements to large enterprise customers of more than 10,000 users with intensive multi-site networking needs. In a separate announcement today, Fujitsu unveiled the newest member of the F9600 family, the F9600 LE. Fujitsu's F9600 systems are installed in large urban school districts and universities, financial organizations, state and local government agencies, and hospitals and medical centers.
