D/I Mux III FXS/FXO Channel
Cards
Foreign Exchange Subscriber / Office Coastcom's family of Dual and Quad FXS
(Foreign Exchange Subscriber), and Dual FXO (Foreign Exchange Office) channel
cards for the D/I Mux III ™ Intelligent T1 Multiplexer can be configured to
handle a variety of applications, and offer years of trouble-free,
cost-effective operation. The smart QFXS combines reliability and performance
with greater capacity.
Typical Applications
- WATS/800 services
- Private Line Automatic Ringdown (PLAR)
- Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS)
- Dial Pulse Termination (DPT)
- "800" incoming/outgoing
- Foreign Exchange Office
The FXS/FXO channel units are typically used in
applications where Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) is provided to remote
locations. This could be from a Central Office (CO) switch to the user, or as an
Off Premises Extension (OPX) from a Private Branch Exchange (PBX). The FXS unit
provides the loop circuit and ringing to the telephone at the remote location.
The application shown depicts the FXS as a Digital Pulse Termination (DPT)
device for direct access of PBX extensions from the public network.

D/I Mux III - SO/S Card
Smart Omni OrderWire/Station Coastcom's Smart Omni Orderwire/Station (SO/S)
Channel Card and the D/I Mux III make network maintenance easy.
Typical Applications
- SO/S permits voice communication in both directions on
a "party line" basis
with all other units on a single DS0 in point-to-point and drop/insert
networks.
It works directly with a 2-Wire DTMF telephone.
- OrderWire channels allow the network manager to call
several locations at once. Directions can be given to one location and results
observed at another to facilitate servicing.
Feature Advantages
- Traditional orderwire circuits require that you call
every station in a network.
Coastcom's smart Omni Orderwire units provide the flexibility to contact just
one
station using a customer's assigned address, or all stations that share the
same address.
- Communicating with a station is as simple as dialing
the customer assigned address number followed by a '#'. Addresses are assigned
by software and can range from 1 to 999 to handle large networks. Any and all
addresses may be active at the same time in the same conversation.
- Coastcom's built-in quiet circuit helps eliminate
accumulated noise.
- A 2-Wire RJ-11 jack interface eliminates the need for
special 4-Wire telephones. Off hook, ringing, and DTMF (touch tone) dialing
are supported.
- The system offers the flexibility to wire a telephone
with the standard T/R connector or a standard "modular phone jack" (RJ11) on
the front panel.
- A station can signal calls with an on-board "Sonalert"
or 20 Hz ringer.
- All options on the card can be remotely provisioned
from a system control terminal
