The Total Access OPTI-MX DS1M Module multiplexes/demultiplexes one STS1 into 28 DSX-1 circuits using the signal from the OPTI-MX OMM modules. The 28 DS1 circuits are M13 mapped. These circuits are made available through the champ connectors on the back panel of the OPTI-MX chassis and are usually routed to a DSX panel.

The following features are supported on the DS1M Module:

• Redundant (1:1) or Non redundant operation
• High density 28 port card
• M13 mapping of the DS1s
• DS-1 interfaces are supported in mid speed slots 3/4, 7/8 and 9/10 in the OPTI-MX chassis
• Timing is derived from the OMM module
• Can provide system timing to the chassis (OMM)
• Hot swap capability
• Optional auto in-service provisioning
• Centrally managed by the System Controller Module (SCM)
